Sharing frustration...

Read a news today which says the CM of Andhra Pradesh, having impressed with the ‘hard-work’ of MLAs and MLCs has decided to gift gift a tab costing Rs 41,000 to each one of them. There are around 300 odd members and one can imagine the amount of money being spent on making all of them happy. This shows how powerful our democracy has made these politicians. They can decide the amount of taxes, tolls we need to pay and the returns are for themselves in the form of corruption, gifts, luxury and comforts. Salary for police, traffic police, postal department and other government agencies??? PEANUTS North India has suffered one of the worst ever disasters with such a huge loss of life, property, livelihood. All say it is a natural calamity but don’t we agree that this is purely man-made specially designed and crafted. Indiscriminate and illegal constructions even after no clearances from environment departments – the government has played a blind face to everything. Whose Loss ???

Unanswered Questions

Here I am, after exactly 2 years from my last post. I don't know what caused the delay - laziness, inconveniences etc etc. We humans have a list of reasons for anything... don't we? So yeah, if I start finding out the reason it would be a long list... Time flies, life changes... Sounds cliched? but very true... Within these two years I am a changed person... Whether good or bad - leave it to the people around me....  Changes? Yes, I have gone through many of them...  I ain't gonna bore you all stating what all changes I went through...  Here I want to share my experience about life's unanswered questions... Do you come across such questions? I have many times... But yes, there were couple of major events which have transformed me from the person I had been - little careless, bindaas, not much thinking of life and its future. These events have taken me to a point where you just have questions, loads of them but no answers... To start with, I had someone close to m

Fountainhead - Justification of perspectives

We must have read so many books; which are beautiful work of fiction. How many times would an Author reiterate his/her perspective about the protagonist with series of incidents? How many times after reading a book you would wonder, who this story is about. Such is the prowess of Ayn Rand in presenting  story of Roark, supposedly the protagonist. The Fountainhead is a brazen criticism of people who follow patterns, conventions and have an outlook for a safe and secure journey. It also goes on to insult people who work/create to please the system or a sect compromising one's own thoughts and beliefs. The story begins with a comparative portrait of two architects Howard Roark and Peter Keating on choice of ways to achieve creativity. Roark believes in his own methods and reasoning about his creative instincts. He is ready to traverse an arduous path for proving his perspective to the world which believes only in conventions. Peter on the other hand prefers to have a secure approac

Terrorist is in your backyard... Just Kill Him...

This morning woke I woke up with a news  "Osama Bin Laden killed". And then the videos / images validating his death flashed across news channels. How can we Indians be behind in reporting such an event, dramatizing every angle and thought around it. Then a thought came, US is non-civilized, barbaric, cruel to have killed a terrorist. They could have rather arrested him, and after taking permission from Pakistani government, they could have taken him to US. Then kept him in a prison and ran a case for more than 3-4 years. Proved his conviction using key witnesses and a govt. lawyer fighting hard to defend him stating Laden is innocent and was brain-washed to carry out 09/11. This would have helped them build a global reputation and might have won Obama a Nobel again... Then I thought, it is UNITED STATES OF AMERICA a global goon which knows how to find their way. Then I quickly thought, some country has been doing such a benevolent act. Yes, it is our very own country I

Deceiving Development: A Harsh Truth

Here I go .. After ages motivating myself to write something. The other day I was going to South Mumbai taking the Harbor Line. As the train started chugging through the harbor suburbs, we entered a series of stations which depicted a very sad face of this city. The train passed through some interior parts crossing slum areas. I probably can't put it in words the condition of people living in these areas. It was horrible to say the least. The chals in those places looked so weird, whose facade were extremely opposite to the skyscrapers this city is known for. There were garbage dumps all over the place and drains with stagnated water.  There were vegetable shops, tea stalls between two track lines. I was wondering how can people live in such a filthy place. But then thought, this is one of the crude faces of life and this city which is termed as the Financial Capital of this Country. Why blame only this city when there are several such cities in this country which have such pat

Bollywood 2010 .. Glimpses...

The year 2010 has left but for movie lovers like me it wasn't a great year like the previous ones. I will try and bring out my personal fav movies. Ishqiya: When we see Vishal Bharadwaj directing a movie with fantastic actors like Nasserudin, Arshad and Vidya Balan, the movie is bound to be a real good one. The script of Vishal for Ishqiya was little weak but he pulled it off with very good direction. Brilliant acting performances and situational music helped the movie score. Udaan: A beautiful movie about degrading relationship between a father and a son. A well directed movie with a simple script and powerful performance. People who have missed this should really watch if they prefer a simple, slow movie with an impact. Peepli Live: This movie directed by Anusha Rizvi was actually an effort to show the sufferings of farmers in our country. Very few directors can convey significant issues in a satirical canvass and Anusha was successful in that. The movie lacked editing and has

Eventful Year..

Wish you all a Happy New Year. With this new year I have convinced myself to write more blogs. Mind you ! it is not a resolution. Coz I feel resolutions break very easily.  Its rightly said 'Time runs fast' and yes, it really does and the Year 2010 has shown its pace and left us. Well for me year 2010 has been eventful. In my previous job I could perform well and helped the company achieve some very good business accounts. It re-ensured a confidence in me that I am capable of doing some. As time progressed I was really desperate to move on to a new company for better prospects. And finally in December I got a very significant break; a new job with eClerx.  Hence, I can say that 2010 for me was significant and hope the lovely journey continues in 2011 as well.
